From mountain climbing to pedalo racing, Dakea GB Team completed some tough physical challenges in May – and all for a good cause!
Dakea is proud to be a platinum sponsor for the Get Up Give Back (GUGB) property developers’ campaign which, every year, raises funds for five charities in the Birmingham area. 2024’s GUGB campaign is Cardio vs Cancer which meant some action-filled days for Dakea GB Team!
A number of the team took on the very tough challenge to climb Snowdonia in Wales – a task that took six hours to complete. Some Dakea colleagues even took their children – and one the family dog – on the climb and all not only completed it but loved every minute of the day. Congratulations, guys!
Then it was time for an energetic but enjoyable day out in the picturesque and historic town of Warwick where two Dakea teams competed on the river in pedalo, raft building and rowing races. Luckily the sun was shining!
The first challenge, a race on the flamingo and unicorn pedalos, may have looked fun but was hard work and saw a win for Sunita and Michael from GB South Team. The raft building task proved a bigger challenge for all but the highlight was GB North Team building the best raft – it even won praise from the supervisor – which helped them cross the finishing line first. Commiserations to GB South Team whose raft-building skills were not quite up to scratch and led to them hitting the water!
In fact, there were quite a few wet competitors and red faces but it was all worth it as both teams enjoyed the day and most importantly Dakea raised a great amount for a brilliant cause.
